Ensembles are easy, and I definitely got an A in the. (You have to pretty much skip class to not get an A in most ensembles) That's three. I got an A in Elementary Mathematical Modelling and in my conducting lesson. That's nine hours. I think I got an A in Jazz Listening. I got a B in my voice lesson, yet again the only spoiler for a 4.0

So, that's a pretty good GPA for the semester. 3.83333. Since I was sitting at a 3.62 at the start of the semester, I should see an increase in my overall GPA.

Now, for the really good news. I passed my Barrier. I'm completely done with voice lessons. No more art music. No more vocal recital performances. I'm done with private lessons. Forever. Whee.

I'm now definitely on track for the end of my bachelor's degree in May. I have two more classes I have to take, Statistics and my Jazz Project. I'll also take a private composition lesson and a literature class that sounds interesting -- The Complexities of Passing. But I'm finally past the last choke point. From this point on, it's all downhill.

Now, that said, I'll be busy next semester. My comp teacher's stated goal is to finish the first movement of the Beltain Mass. I already have the libretto done, I already have the character of the piece picked, (Aaron Copeland with a bit of minimalism) and I have th underlying changt picked -- Air I am. The first movement, the Kyrie, is the one where the quarters are called and the ritual space is created. I don't expect much problem with the music. The big challenge is Sibelius Speaking, the notation program, which I'm going to work with during the break to get better with.

The Jazz Project is a similar challenge. I need eight pieces. (Big Band chart, Vocal Jazz work, Piece for a secon and rhythm, and pieces for rhythm and one, two, three, and four horns, plus one other -- eight pieces) I have about half of them in some form of constructed format, but I need to work on the rest. I'll also be working on that for the winter break.

But the end is in sight. This time next year, I'll be one quarter of the way through a master's program, very likely.
